2003 Grand Prix Anaheim
Beep - Beep - Beep - Beep
That was the sound of Ben Rubin backing his Dump Truck all over the established meta-game. He built a unique blue-white-black control deck with an army of invitational winners. With the help of Jon Finkel and Chris Pikula's cards he was able to get past three separate decks types. He took out Tog in the quarters, Tinker in the semis, and Red Deck Wins in the finals.
Ben Rubin is the Grand Prix: Anaheim Champion!

So much for banned cards.
Peek ruled the day, as Ben would use the card for extra card drawing and to be able to drop his
Meddling Mage at just the right time. He lost Game 1 of the finals but kept a zero land hand
on the play in Game 2 and defeated amateur Nathan Saunders to force a Game 3. His
Chills and
Exalted Angels proved too much for Nathan to deal with and Ben Rubin earned the right to hoist the trophy.
Interestingly, it is highly unlikely that he will attend Pro Tour Kobe. Magic has become increasingly casual for the California native. Even if he doesn't show up at too many Magic tournaments in the future you can expect to see his deck for the remainder of the PTQ season.
