The world of Mirrodin sealed deck has been largely unexplored. Many of the pros in attendance this weekend are puzzling out the format for the first time. We are presenting you with the card pools of three well-known pros and what they thought of their options. We are not going to reveal their builds initially. Instead you will have the opportunity to post your thoughts on these three sets of cards and what you would have built in their shoes.

Over the course of the day we’ll reveal to you who these pros are and what they decided to build from the card pools. Until then, have fun building.

Player One had uncertain feelings about his card pool. Along with some definite strengths he felt the card pool exhibited some weaknesses that could be difficult to overcome. “The card pool certainly has a lot of removal; Deconstruct, Electrostatic Bolt, Arrest, Terror, Irradiate. The removal is spread out among the colors though, making it hard to build at an initial glance.”

“I’d have to say though that it’s an above average card pool. It has access to more than five creature kills card and a Mindslaver. Pearl Shard looks good in this pool as well.”

Despite these strengths his major concern with the card pool was its ability to remove artifacts, or more accurately, its lack of this ability. “The artifact removal is very weak in the card pool. The only thing offered is the Deconstruct, and I think the green is too weak to play. The rest of the green just doesn’t justify the Deconstruct.”

Player one was able to narrow this down to what he thought were the best colors with just a little work. He quickly decided that he would play two colors and then add artifacts to those.“White and black are clearly the best colors in the card pool. The pool has some weaknesses though, particularly in the artifact removal department.”

To say player two wasn’t excited would be an understatement. He expected that his card pool would send him quickly to the side event tables. “I thought it couldn’t be worse, then I looked at it again, and it got worse. The card pool does have Bosh though, I just don’t know if he’s any good.”

Asked about the artifacts in card pool Player Two couldn’t keep himself from gushing over with mock enthusiasm. “I don’t think the pool has a single piece of playable equipment. The card pool doesn’t have any decent, playable 3/3’s for four mana or anything. The spells in the card pool are fine, but I don’t have the creatures or the equipment to back it up.”

“All of the colors in this card pool are pretty much the same, decent spells and no guys. Even the artifacts have the same problem. I think the card pool will have to play off-color artifact guys just to have enough men in it. A Yotian Soldier would be the best friend of this card pool. I think the pool itself should be played red/blue.”

Player three seemed to think the card pool was pretty average. “The card pool is ok. There a lot of artifacts in the card pool, and the two Leonine Scimitars make the equipment look good.”

Beyond the Equipment though he seemed to think the card pool was middle of the road. There was no good removal in Black or Green. “It has reusable removal in Arc Slogger. He probably makes red the best color in the card pool. The green offers some good creatures but not really enough in the way of removal. The blue is nearly nonexistent, nothing worth splashing.”

How did these players do throughout the day? Stay tuned to www.sideboard.com to find out.
