Penny Arcade Podcasts
When the Guys from Penny Arcade and PVP, got together to play D&D, we set up the game and the microphones.
Penny Arcade/PvP Series 4
Once more around the table! The folks at Penny Arcade, PvP, and Kris Straub run a new session of Dungeons & Dragons -- this time set in the world of Dark Sun, a prequel to Encounters Season 2!
Submatron Galash of trading concern House Galash has brought in extra security for a trip to the "free city" of Tyr. Not that it'll help.
Beneath the sand of the ruins, a creature is stirring... and it makes itself known. When its tendrils connect, however, they recoil; there is something about the party's nature that is... unappetizing.
In this episode, a Matron, old adages, and obsidian spheres await the pleasure of Duma and his companions.
The four pillars the party sees extend downward, a hundred feet, and four elemental monuments stand outside an ancient temple whose courtyard is now a rickety tower of bones.
As the party scrapes together what they can from the wreckage, a dark and growing cloud to the south draws their eye.
The fight continues, as the podcast series concludes: "We serve the Wastewalker, and through him, the omnipresent sun. There are no 'good wizards.' Only darker shades of black."
The adventure may have ended, but the players and their DM look back at their experiences in the game. The world of Athas is considered, and all that sets Dark Sun apart from other campaign settings is discussed.
The folks at Penny Arcade posted their episode of Penny Arcade TV covering the behind-the-scenes of the podcast series. Jerry Holkins, Mike Krahulik, Scott Kurtz, and Kris Straub look back at their start with the game as well as their recent Dark Sun adventures!
Penny Arcade/PvP Series 3
Once more around the table! The folks at Penny Arcade, PvP, and Wil Wheaton sit down with Wizards of the Coast for a session of 4th Edition D&D!
It's Fallcrest, midwinter, and snow has settled over everything. Acquisitions Incorporated has been holed up in their favorite sanctuary, The Silver Unicorn, enjoying the warmth of a fire. All is calm…
In this episode, the members of Acquisitions Incorporated learn about the death and dying rules… but does it concern them, the boar, or the dwarf?
There is something on the roof… a guy on the roof… Or is there? Sometimes houses just have guys on their roof…. at least so goes the theory.
A long hallway branches off to a perpendicular hallway with three small chambers. In the leftmost chamber: a bedroom, wherein Binwin has awoken their dwarven adversary.
Through the front doors, Acquisitions Inc. enters a snow-covered yard surrounded by a 20-foot wall. In the middle of the yard, a cabin waits, smoke rising from its chimney.
The battle continues! Acquisitions Incorporated has their backs against the wall fighting the Ambershards—and now, in the heat of combat, more enemies flood into the mausoleum.
In this episode, the battle continues in full against Thazin Stormbellow, guardian of the Ambershard mausoleum. That sleeping boar? No longer sleeping…
Traps are sprung throughout the climax of the adventure. Aeofel lies melting away in an acid pit. And then there's that bearskin rug... Remembrances of the Tome of Horrors comes to mind.
Penny Arcade/PvP Series 2
They're back! The folks at Penny Arcade and PvP sit down once again with Wizards of the Coast for a session of 4th Edition D&D. This time, they've hired a new member for their party—Wil Wheaton!
Acquisitions Incorporated continues their… acquisition incorporating. In the first episode of this latest podcast series, the party joins forces and finds its way into adventure in the Borderlands...
What's the best kind of brand? Can the object of your enmity be a threshing machine? Does a grabbed dwarf get pulled along with his opponent, or does the dwarf get pulled away?
Part 2 continues with a roll for initiative! Acquisitions Inc. gets the drop on the sheltering guards, opening up with a brutal tide of iron.
This party is on fire! Literally… and as if that weren't bad enough, Binwin is drawn into an iron maiden. (Remember: just because you can double-move doesn't mean you always want to.)
Part 3 continues with a visit down the hole in the broken tower... Something is waiting for them (and their rope ladder), but who (or what)?
It starts with a scream. It continues with a battle standard being planted (augmented with another scream). And it ends with archers perforating Binwin…
In this episode, the action continues as a vicious fight rolls on. When in doubt, heal Jim—at least, so says Jim Darkmagic.
Here we go, folks – the final episode in our second series of podcasts with Acquisitions Inc. How will it end?
Penny Arcade/PvP Series 1
The folks at Penny Arcade and PvP sat down with R&D’s Chris Perkins and James Wyatt to play 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons (for some of them, it was their very first game of D&D). How did it go? Well, they recorded the entire session—which we’re thrilled to offer in episodic podcasts, along Penny Arcade comics commemorating the game!
In this episode, the players make their most difficult decision: What to name their characters.
In this episode, the characters have been advanced to 3rd level. What new powers will the party use against this week’s undead enemies?
In this episode, natural 20s are rolled, as are natural 1s. And yes, magic missile is cast.
In this episode, the players take on their toughest fight so far—though clever use of a goblin named Splug and a magically glowing coin can help in virtually any situation.
In this episode, the party follows the trail of an injured goblin and wanders into someplace… sepulchral. They also learn why one should never look beneath a goblin’s bed.
Nothing messes up your day quite like recovering consciousness at the feet of Orcus, even if he is just a statue.
At last! The party tracks down the legendary Irontooth—but what does he have in store against them? And is that even his real name?
Our heroes faced their moment of truth at last in this final installment of their encounter with D&D 4th Edition.
