WPN Levels and Requirements

Welcome to the Wizards Play Network. The WPN is divided into levels based on play activity. Here you can see what support your store receives at each level, and what you have to do to get there.

At the Gateway Level, you get access to programs, such as:

Magic Leagues
D&D Encounters
Same-day scheduling (schedule events on the same day the events take place) for Casual events. Scheduling for Rated events must still be done in advance of the event.

To Participate as a Gateway retail location, your store needs to do the following:

Contact us/apply for inclusion in network
Schedule at least one event so that it can be displayed on our locator

At Core level, retail locations get access to programs such as:

All Gateway content and benefits
Friday Night Magic
Magic Prereleases
Magic Game Days
D&D Game Days
Buy-a-Box promo cards
Access to From the Vault product
Ability to open a sales account with Wizards
Same-day scheduling for both Casual and Rated events

To qualify to participate as a Core retail location, your store needs to do the following (in the preceding 12 months):

Report a minimum of 4 events
Have a minimum of 30 unique people playing in your reported events
Run and report a single event with 12 players or more
Maintain a delinquency rate of less than 20%
Introduce 6 new players to WPN events

At Advanced level, retail locations get access to programs such as:

All Gateway and Core content and benefits
One additional event for all Core-level programs (i.e.: two FNMs each Friday instead of one)
Access to WPN Premium Tournaments*
Access to Magic Grand Prix Trials*
Access to WPN Championship Qualifiers*
Access to additional From the Vault product (depending on product availability)
Post-scheduling (Advanced-level retail locations can schedule both Casual and Rated events up to seven days after the event has taken place)

*Additional requirements may apply to access these events. Please see the specific program web pages for more information.

To qualify to participate as an Advanced retail location, your store needs to do the following (in the preceding 12 months):

Report a minimum of 20 tournaments
Maintain a delinquency rate of less than 10%
Have a minimum of 100 unique people playing in your reported events
Run and report a single tournament with 32 players or more
Introduce 20 new players to WPN events


Magic Leagues Magic Leagues are a great way to kick off the release of a new Magic: The Gathering expansion set. Beginning on the day it goes on sale, your players will have an exciting, ongoing event to participate in until the next expansion set is released.	Friday Night Magic Friday Night Magic is Magic's Core-level weekly recurring program that brings players together on Friday nights to play for fun and foil prize cards. FNM is the ideal way to bring in new players and build your community every week.	D&D Encounters D&D Encounters is an ongoing weekly mini-campaign - played one epic encounter at a time, over the course of a few months. Every Wednesday, as players defeat monsters and overcome challenges, they'll earn points toward exclusive Rewards Cards that provide their characters with in-game benefits.
Magic Game Days Magic Game Days are Core-level events focusing on the set storyline. They take place one month after each set releases, giving players the first opportunity to play Standard format with the newest cards. All participants receive a full-art promo card.	Magic Prereleases Magic Prereleases are Core-level store offerings that let players play with the new cards a week before they go on sale. This exciting opportunity gives players their first chance to see and play with the new cards - and they receive a special-edition foil promo card for participating.	D&D Game Days D&D Game Days happen several times throughout the year, timed with the release of key products. Stores get adventures, characters, and maps - all of which put a spotlight on material from the new release.
WPN Premium Tournaments Certain store events go above and beyond your typical scheduled events. WPN Premium Tournament support exists to service them. For scheduled events that meet minimum requirements for size, organization and certified judge participation, we will give you advertising on our tournament locator, additional marketing support, and enhanced K-value for your event.	Grand Prix Trials Advanced WPN stores are now eligible to run Grand Prix Trials! Grand Prix Trials are a great opportunity for your Advanced-level store to be involved in Pro-level Magic: The Gathering tournaments!
